The new certificate for altering deeds abolished.

The certificate that was required last year for the altering of deeds for ilegaly built houses, extentions pools etc. is no longer a requirement. This is good news because sometimes it could take up to 2 months for it to be issued once applied for & it reduces the cost involved in doing what can be done towards legalization of your property which can be as much as 1,100€ (including Architects plans, notary fees, land registry fee, antiquity certificate, translation etc).

It is quite unusual withinSpainfor a measure to be taken that decreases the red tape but I believe that this has happened due to the officers of the town halls being over-logged with the work created to produce these certificates that they were not able to deal with them properly. In a recent visit to the town hall to ask if the certificate had been issued I was told by the officer that is all he has been working on over the last months & he had no time to deal with other issues.

This move means that it will cost less money (30€) & time to get the job of legalisation of properties.
